Guardian Homes
What is a guardian home?
Our Guardian Home program was designed to provide you with an option to partner with us to give you your dream dog and give us the opportunity to breed a great dog that will make awesome puppies. To learn more about our Guardian Home program, please visit the Guardian Home FAQ’s below!
Great Question! You tell us the which dog you are interested in and we see if we have a dog that fits or if we would like to keep one from a litter or purchase one for you! You will raise the dog until we are ready to use it to breed. Males are generally needed for 1 week at a time, one to 6 times per year. Females are generally needed for a couple of weeks for breeding every six to eight months once they are of age. Then they will come back to us about 8 Weeks later to whelp nurse their pups for another 8 weeks. They will then return to you until the next time they are bred. When they are done breeding, we will spay them and sign them fully over to you.
The guardian home pays nothing for the dog unless something of the guardian homes fault were to happen that would render the dog unable to be bred. At that time, the guardian home would be responsible to pay for the replacement cost of the dog. This is a predetermined amount that will be written in the individual contract and is based on the value of the dog. The guardian home also pays for all food, grooming and flea and tick meds as well as any other extras for their pet including pet beds, kennels, toys, etc.
The Breeder pays for initial cost for the dog plus any routine vet care, all genetic testing, all OFA testing, any costs associated with breeding and a $500 bonus to the guardian home for each successful female breeding and a $100 bonus for each successful male breeding.
If something should happen to the dog while in the care of the guardian home, the guardian home will be responsible to pay the cost. If something happened while in the care of the breeder, then breeder would pay the cost.
Guardian homes must be within a 30 minute drive from Nixa, MO and remain in the area or return the dog at the time of moving. The guardian home must be financially stable and able to care for a dog. They also must work from home, have a flexible work schedule or other plan for caring for their dog while they are at work. Please contact us if you are needing ideas on what kind of things work for people who work and we can try and work with you to come up with a good plan for you and the dog.
